If I were to become a mermaid, it might take me a while to learn who in my new ecosystem, would be safe to play with.  I painted the backgroud paper to give it a seaweed texture, and then cut it to give a seaweed forest effect.  I found a waxy batiked  paper that made a fantastic lionfish.
